Holy Week Reading | Day 1

Where is He Who Has Been Born King of the Jews?

Mark 15:1-5

And as soon as it was morning, the chief priests held a consultation with the elders and scribes and the whole council.

The Pharisees went out and immediately held counsel with the Herodians against him, how to destroy him. (Mark 3:6)

And they bound Jesus and led him away and delivered him over to Pilate.

And taking the twelve again, he began to tell them what was to happen to him, saying, “See, we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be delivered over to the chief priests and the scribes (Mark 10:33)

And Pilate asked him,“Are you the King of the Jews?”

“Do you say this of your own accord, or did others say it to you about me?”

“Am I a Jew? Your own nation and the chief priests have delivered you over to me. What have you done?” (John 18:34-35)

And he answered him, “ You have said so.” And the chief priests accused him of many things. And Pilate again asked him,“Have you no answer to make? See how many charges they bring against you.”

But Jesus remained silent. And the high priest said to him, “I adjure you by the living God, tell us if you are the Christ, the Son of God.” (Matt 26:63)

So Pilate said to him, “You will not speak to me? Do you not know that I have authority to release you and authority to crucify you?” (John 19:10)

But Jesus made no further answer, so that Pilate was amazed.

He was oppressed and afflicted, yet he did not open his mouth; (Isa 53:7)

When they heaped abuse on Him, He did not retaliate; when He suffered, He made no threats, but entrusted Himself to Him who judges justly. (1 Pet 2:23)

“Where is he who has been born king of the Jews? (Matt 2:2)
